LONDON (Reuters) – British lenders approved the most mortgages for house purchase since August 2022, but consumer credit growth slowed slightly, Bank of England data showed on Friday.
Lenders approved 68,303 mortgages for house purchase last month, up from 66,115 in September. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast 64,500 approvals.
Annual consumer credit growth slowed to 7.3% in October from 7.5% the month before.
