$ Billions Committed to Hydrogen Development in Canada and USA
"It is my belief that the next 1,000 unicorns won't be a search engine, won't be a media company, they'll be businesses developing green hydrogen, green agriculture, green steel, and green cement."
— Larry Fink, CEO of Blackrock
Hydrogen is once again gaining momentum, and investors are reaping the benefits. $2 billion has been committed to building an advanced clean hydrogen production plant in Alberta, Canada, by Linde PLC. The project is expected to be completed by 2028. This facility will be the largest of its kind in Canada and one of the largest in the world.
The automotive sector is also charging ahead in the hydrogen space, with major players like Toyota, Hyundai, Audi, Honda, and BMW investing heavily in hydrogen-powered vehicles. The current U.S. administration's dedication to clean energy has further accelerated these developments, including a $7 billion investment announced by the Department of Energy to establish seven regional clean hydrogen hubs across the country.
AI power and data center demand are also expected to surge 550% by 2026, from 8 terawatt hours (“TWh”) in 2024 to 52 TWh, before rising another 1,150% to 652 TWh by 2030. U.S. power grid planners have doubled the estimated U.S. load forecast from 2.6% to 4.7%, an increase of nearly 38 gigawatts through 2028, which is the equivalent of adding two more states equivalent to New York to the U.S. power grid in the next five years. Securing reliable power is an increasingly strategic part of data center location.
"The broad shift towards renewable energy in the U.S. will continue even under the incoming administration of Donald Trump," said the head of the Americas arm of Japan's largest banking group, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group.
"We're at the peak of the hype cycle of AI, but it's real and it's big," Cronin said.
Hi-View Resources: A Key Player
As government and private sector support for hydrogen continues to surge, companies involved in hydrogen exploration and development are set to benefit significantly. Among these, Hi-View Resources (CSE: HVW) (OTC: HVWRF) announced its entry into the natural hydrogen exploration and development sector with an acquisition nearby Quebec Innovative Materials Corp. (CSE:QIMC) , which has made a recent significant hydrogen discovery in Quebec, Canada.
A recent article by World-Energy provides the following overview of the important discovery:
"A significant hydrogen discovery has been made on the Quebec side of Lake Timiskaming with the potential scale and magnitude that could put this region of western Quebec on the map.
Quebec Innovative Materials has been exploring and evaluating what appears to be a district-sized pocket of naturally occurring hydrogen spread out over a 300-square-kilometre land package of both forested and agricultural land, 15 kilometers north of the town of Ville Marie."

The Vancouver-based company has been generating quite a bit of news flow beginning with exploration fieldwork last summer to identify "hot spots" of high-value zones of hydrogen within the rural municipality of St. Bruno de Guigues.
Since July 2024, Quebec Innovative Materials has been on the active hunt for the presence of hydrogen and helium through a soil sampling field program in a region where the geology is considered favorable to host natural hydrogen.
The company’s fieldwork culminated in a major breakthrough announced in September 2024. Soil samples have routinely shown hydrogen soil samples of more than 300 parts per million (PPM), but one breakthrough discovery result yielded soil samples of more than 1,000 PPM—a natural hydrogen level the company considered “first class” and “exceptional.”
At that time, company CEO (of QIMC) John Karagiannidis called it a “transformative discovery” that significantly advances the project toward eventually “developing and commercializing this remarkable hydrogen resource.”
Hi-View Resources (CSE: HVW) (OTC: HVWRF) kicked off the New Year by announcing their entry into the hydrogen exploration sector:
Hi-View Resources (CSE: HVW) (OTC: HVWRF) has acquired a 100-percent interest in a portfolio of highly prospective mineral claim applications from an arm's-length vendor. These mineral claim applications consist of two separate claim packages in close proximity to Quebec Innovative Materials Corp.'s recent hydrogen sample discovery of over 1,000 parts per million, announced on Sept. 4, 2024.
These mineral claim blocks are located within the Timiskaming graben formation approximately 15 kilometers north of the town of Ville Marie, Quebec, located between two major mining cities and accessible by road (Route 101). Hi-View Resources President and Chief Executive Officer Howard Milne stated: "We are excited to begin exploration for clean energy hydrogen in this newly discovered and highly prospective camp. Hi-View will be planning an initial comprehensive exploration program to test for hydrogen near QIMC's recent hydrogen discovery.
The close proximity demonstrates potential for new discoveries of hydrogen with its ideal location and infrastructure. This new property represents an exciting opportunity to expand into a clean energy portfolio of projects while exploring our B.C. gold and copper properties."
Initial Hydrogen Exploration Program
- Artificial intelligence: Artificial intelligence and target mapping algorithms, which utilize the known hydrogen occurrences to outline target areas having a similar spectral response to Quebec Innovative Materials' hydrogen occurrences.
- Gas sampling: Gas sampling from the soil; these surveys can be used to locate degassing zones associated with faults in the Temiskaming rift.
- Gravimetry: Gravimetry and audio-magnetotellurics (AMT) geophysics to assess variations in the thickness of local sedimentary rock deposits (gravity troughs) over the Archean basement; AMT data will assist in locating graben-related faults in the St-Bruno-de-Guigues area that are covered by quaternary sediments.
- Remote sensing: Regional remote sensing gas surveys to identify specific hydrogen targets using drones to provide useful remote sensing data for hydrogen and helium exploration.
Fieldwork can be carried out mainly in the municipality of St-Bruno-de-Guigues sector.

With Quebec Innovative Materials Corp. (CSE:QIMC) garnering national attention with their significant hydrogen discovery, a land rush is now underway and companies like Hi-View Resources (CSE: HVW) (OTC: HVWRF) scoring a set of mineral claim applications covering 3,000 acres adjacent to Quebec Innovative. Other players that have begun acquiring and/or exploring for hydrogen in the area include Protium Clean Energy Corp. (CSE:GRUV) and Red Metal Resources Inc. (CSE:RMES).
With governments and private investors pouring billions into hydrogen development, the sector is poised for rapid growth. Hi-View has now positioned itself at the forefront of this new hydrogen region, offering significant potential upside as the company advances both its hydrogen initiatives in Quebec and its established gold and copper projects in British Columbia, Canada.
Stay tuned as these companies continue to expand their resource portfolios and drive new development in this exciting sector.
